I was on my way home and there was this vendor who was selling pinoy local delicacies in the bus. One of his marketing strategies was to give us a samples of his products such as pinipig, makapuno and pastillas and try it out to taste if indeed its worth buying. He was so adamant as he does his scheme. One thing to see a person’s soul is through his eyes. You can see in his eyes the sincerity and absolutely hopefull his scheme does work and in the process land on a sale to prospective buyers. Some would ignore him as he asks them to try it out and I myself was on the other hand very much willing to give it a try. Am a strong person and my stomach can churn it for sure regardless of any health concern. One thing that makes food really delicious on top of any condiment or spicy and even the infamous vetsin (msg) is if its FOR FREE. So without any qualms I gave it a try. I chose macapuno. I missed eating this favourite pinoy delicacy for quite some time. Judging the way it taste, well it will pass my palate. Good enough and it seems clean and well processed. Actually regardless if it tasted good or not, looking at his eyes. I see a man who was trying to earn a decent living. Even if this entails succumbing to any reaction to patrons and just trying to please them and hope that it will end on a sale. So as an act of kindness a purchase a few macapuno packs so as to help him have some of his products sold for the day and hoping that somehow it will help augment his life and hope that it inspires him to continue pursuing his dreams the hard decent way.
I was thankful in the process and not just did I was able to have a good treat of sweets but I was able to help a person. It may not be as huge in terms of financial amount but I know somehow someway I helped a soul. I may not change the world in this act of kindness I deed. But it surely makes a difference touching a person
